Summary:
Perform work related to outside plant work orders and Joint Pole authorizations. Prepare and or respond to proposed and or completed pole related activities. Access and navigate company records through various work-related systems. Daily interface with Construction/ Customer Operations, for processing joint pole related work activity. Make field trips and inter/intra-company contacts.

Specific requirements of the position include:
* Manage volume of work associated with Joint Pole Authorizations and general OSP Engineering Fielding duties.
* Communicate with state, county, city and national indices to gain information on planned projects that involve growth and changes.
* Coordinate with Joint Pole owners, Joint Pole Committees, and Municipalities
* Communicate with peers and other departments.
* Conduct Pre and post joint pole audits to insure proper billing by Joint Owners.
* Insure compliance to the protocols of the Southern California Joint Pole Committee (SCJPC) and or Northern California Joint Pole Association.
* General Orders 95 / 128
* Access FROGS/Varasset and GAP to research and update company records.
* Operate Company vehicles as required
* Apply best practices to pole, aerial cable, underground cable, and conduit related activities.

Qualifications:
* Must have detailed knowledge of outside plant activities with emphasis of Pole related activities.
* Knowledge of engineering tools to include the following, FROGS/Varasset, GAP, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, email and other company software.
* Possess a valid California class "C" drivers license.
* Excellent organizational skills, communications skills (written and verbal) and customer relations will be utilized in achieving desired results and are critical to the position.
* Outside plant construction experience.
* Knowledge of right of way, private easement and permitting with local, state and federal entities.
* Must be able to manage multiple projects in various stages of activity.

Education/Experience:
* Knowledge of telecommunications outside plant practices, preferable in a local exchange environment.
* Must be able to demonstrate knowledge with heavy emphasis on pole related activities.
* Must have a solid knowledge of telecommunications outside plant.
* Strong interpersonal skills are very important in discussions and meetings with inter and intra company contacts.

Basic Qualifications:
* Tests - Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy.
Experience - Management will designate the experience level required for each vacancy.
* First consideration will be given to an individual who in the last ten years has successfully held the position of Engineering Fielder or who possesses the equivalent experience (i.e., other telecommunications company experience).
* Second consideration will be given to an individual who in the last ten years has successfully held the position of Cable Splicer, Customer Service Technician I, Customer Service Technician II, Drafting Plans Drawer, Facility Surveyor, Fiber Network Field Technician, Graphics Systems Operator, OSP Construction Installer/Splicer, Line Worker, or Plant Construction Installer, or who possesses the equivalent experience (i.e., other telecommunications company experience).
* Third consideration will be given to an individual who in the last ten years has successfully held the position of Customer Service Technician III, Internal Communications Technician, Public Access Sales Technician, Collector/Maintainer, Public Communications Field Technician, Senior Communications Specialist or Special Equipment Installer, or who possesses the equivalent experience (i.e., other telecommunications company experience).
* If there are no individuals who meet the criteria outlined above, consideration will be given to all other individuals.
* Must possess, at the time of appointment, a valid California Class "C" Driver's License, and if required at the assigned job site, must demonstrate proficiency in the operation of a vehicle equipped with a standard (manual shift) transmission.
* Legally required Criminal Records Check - Employee will be required to be fingerprinted and pass the Department of Justice criminal records screening process in order to ensure that the employee has never been convicted of, and is not the defendant in a pending criminal proceeding with respect to an arrest for, any "serious" or "violent" felony (as defined in the California Education and Penal Codes). The Department of Justice will continuously monitor the employee's criminal record while the employee is employed in this position, and the employee shall be required to pass such continuous screening in order to retain this position.
