Laser Operator I

Operates lasers to the needed production schedule by prioritized nesting. Operator runs two lasers at a time and is responsible for all aspects of parts produced, including but not limited to: quality, quantity, internal and external skid quantities, scrap material, etc. The Laser Operator works closely with the Laser Helper. The Operator is to train and closely monitor how the Laser Helper does their job on a daily basis. Some CNC experience is preferred. Operator must have good mathematical and analytical skills. Some computer experience is required. This is a non-exempt position.

Primary Responsibilities



  • Operates laser equipment to produce parts that exceed customer expectations.
  • Successfully completes Kapco crane training and forklift training as necessary.
  • Trouble shoots with maintenance if needed.
  • Works with the Laser Helper to keep work area clean and organized.
  • Keeps the Laser Helper on track and minimizes Helper mistakes.
  • Completes daily checklists and required paperwork.
  • Works on continuous improvement activities and special projects.
  • Works on other duties as assigned.
