Dewberry is currently seeking a motivated Senior Transportation Planner/Project Manager to be located in one of three of our New Jersey offices (Mount Laurel, Bloomfield, or Parsippany). This candidate would serve as an experienced Project Manager with a background in civil engineering and a career focus on traffic and safety studies. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to join a large team of transportation planners and engineers. Projects will range from local community-focused safety and multimodal projects to statewide/regional plans. This position offers tremendous career growth potential in a highly collaborative environment while working on broad range of project types for local and national transportation clients.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of transportation planning and/or engineering experience (minimum 8 years) related to bicycle and pedestrian planning. Experience with NJ projects (specifically NJDOT and NJ MPOs) is preferred. Applicants must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to monitor schedule and budgets, work in groups, and lead and mentor a group of transportation professionals. This position offers flexible work hours and the ability for part-time telework.

Dewberry offers a comprehensive and very competitive package of insurance programs to regular full-time employees and their eligible dependents the first of the month following their date of hire. Responsibilities

    Lead planning and conceptual design level bicycle and pedestrian transportation safety studies including multimodal master plans, bicycle and pedestrian implementation plans, and safety action plans.
  • Lead planning and design of bicycle and pedestrian transportation projects, including corridor studies, safe routes to school, and complete streets initiatives.
  • Manage data collection, analysis, and mapping using GIS and other planning tools.
  • Conduct public outreach, including workshops, stakeholder meetings, and presentations.
  • Prepare technical reports, concept plans, feasibility studies, and planning documents.
  • Provide project management, including coordination with clients, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies.
  • Mentor junior planners and engineers, fostering skill development in multimodal planning.Assist in proposal development in the Northeast region.


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 8+ years of professional transportation planning experience, with a strong focus on pedestrian and bicycle planning.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., AICP, PTP, PE, PTOE, or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local design standards (AASHTO, MUTCD, ADA, NJDOT Complete Streets, NACTO etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to public agencies and community groups.
  • Proficiency in GIS and transportation modeling software is preferred.
  • NJDOT or State Agency experience preferred
  • Project Management and leadership skills preferred
  • AutoCAD/MicroStation experience is a plus

Salary Range

The projected range for this position is $98,175 to $126,225 annually. Depending upon other factors, i.e., skills, experience, location, market conditions, the range may vary slightly.
