The Opportunity Ulteig is seeking a highly engaged and experienced candidate for our Senior Manager - Project Management position within the Project Management department. It is preferred that this senior leader be located near our Denver, CO, St. Paul, MN, Fargo, ND, Boise, ID, or Austin, TX office; however, fully remote candidates will be considered. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for multiple teams of project managers, project controls professionals, and people leaders, with a focus on delivering high-quality project and/or construction management solutions for Renewables projects across Ulteig's portfolio. The Senior Manager - Project Management will be responsible for developing and mentoring managers and supervisors, driving organizational growth and scalability, and ensuring consistent execution excellence across projects. Key responsibilities include client engagement and relationship management, business development support, workforce and resource planning, financial performance oversight, and accountability for departmental goals, metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives. This individual will report directly to the Director of Project Management and will partner closely with clients, executive leadership, and internal stakeholders including Service Departments, Client Solutions, and Shared Services. The Senior Manager is a proactive, strategic leader who balances people development, operational performance, and PMO maturity while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and long-term success. What we Expect From You
- Bachelor's degree in project management, construction management, engineering management (or related field) from ABET accredited university
- 12+ years of experience in projects, project management, and/or construction management
- PMP or higher/equivalent certification preferred
- Experience in leading, managing and developing other Project Management Professionals and leaders
- Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic and collaborative attitude
- Strong analytic and information management skills
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, public and external agencies
- High level of initiative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with clear expectations and timeliness
- Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills
- Proficiency in project controls (scheduling and cost control) utilizing Microsoft Project Professional and/or Primavera P6
- Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, Power Point) and additional software knowledge depending on specialty
- Ability to travel (10%) to engage with team members, clients, and/or for team, department, or company level events
- Must have authorization to work permanently in the US
What You'll Do Management & Project Responsibilities - 60%
- Provide strategic direction, leadership, and PMO governance for managers, supervisors, and project teams to achieve individual, team, department, and organizational performance objectives
- Lead, mentor, and develop project management managers and supervisors, ensuring strong leadership pipelines, succession planning, and long-term talent growth
- Establish and facilitate effective leadership forums, including manager 1:1s, leadership team meetings, and cross-functional collaboration sessions
- Oversee and optimize workforce and resource planning across multiple teams, portfolios, and programs to ensure scalability, efficiency, and alignment with business priorities
- Own performance management processes for direct reports, including annual and quarterly reviews, development planning, and accountability for team performance outcomes
- Provide executive-level project and portfolio oversight, including scope management in alignment with technical contracts, change management strategies, and schedule performance across programs
- May serve as Program Manager or Executive Sponsor for critical, high-risk, or strategically significant initiatives as needed
- Lead and support complex, large-scale portfolios and enterprise-level programs with multiple clients, stakeholders, and delivery teams
- Demonstrate exceptional executive communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders, synthesize complex information, and drive alignment across the organization
- Demonstrate advanced organizational and prioritization skills to manage competing strategic initiatives, operational demands, and long-term objectives
- Consistently deliver results aligned with business goals, financial targets, and strategic priorities while demonstrating strong business acumen and understanding of organizational processes
- Establish standards and accountability for project health, leveraging Earned Value Management (EVM), data analytics, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement across all projects, programs, and portfolios
Process Development and Improvement Activities - 25%
- Lead and champion continuous improvement initiatives across the Project Management organization, driving scalable, efficient, and consistent project execution aligned with enterprise strategy
- Establish and evolve PMO frameworks, governance models, and best practices to support complex portfolios, programs, and long-term business growth
- Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to influence, align, and embed PMO processes across the organization, ensuring adoption and measurable outcomes
- Identify, prioritize, and sponsor process improvement initiatives using data, performance metrics, and industry best practices to enhance delivery predictability and operational excellence
- Oversee the development, standardization, and rollout of training programs, tools, standard operating procedures, and process enhancements to ensure consistency and maturity across teams
- Ensure continuous feedback loops and change management practices are in place to support successful implementation and sustained improvement
Business Development Responsibilities -15%
- Serve as a senior leader and escalation point for key client relationships, partnering with Client Team Leads (CTLs) and executive stakeholders to ensure exceptional client experience, long-term partnerships, and resolution of complex project and non-project issues
- Drive revenue growth and service expansion by strategically collaborating with Client Solutions leadership, Project Management leadership, and delivery teams to identify opportunities with existing and prospective clients
- Provide leadership and governance for proposal development efforts, including shaping pursuit strategy, allocating resources, reviewing and approving proposal content, and ensuring alignment with client needs and organizational capabilities
- Act as an executive sponsor for select pursuits and client accounts, strengthening Ulteig's market presence and positioning as a trusted advisor
- Proactively develop and maintain strong, senior-level client relationships, supporting account growth, repeat business, and long-term strategic partnerships
