The Department of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine at Columbia University is seeking talented staff to join our growing faculty. We are currently seeking board-certified or board-eligible physiatrists for inpatient roles at an affiliated free-standing rehabilitation hospital located in Rockland County, NY. Both general rehabilitation and Stroke/TBI roles are available. Duties and responsibilities include:
- Act as and perform the responsibilities of an attending physician for rehabilitation patients at the hospital.
- Develop and coordinate an interdisciplinary treatment plan for the Hospital inpatients assigned to your service.
- Conduct periodic medical exams and reevaluation of the response of each Hospital inpatient assigned to your service to the patient's prescribed course of treatment and document such in the medical record.
- Prepare discharge summaries for the patients assigned to your service who terminate treatment at the Hospital.
- Chair or participate in Medical Staff and/or Hospital committees, as assigned by the Hospital from time to time.
- Participate in the efforts to monitor and improve the quality of care and the use of services at the Hospital.
- Participate in the marketing strategy of the Hospital, particularly as it relates to the enhancements of service for patients with spinal cord injury at the Hospital.
- Participate in medical leadership and clinical practice related to physical medicine and rehabilitation services and those for patients with spinal cord injury, including teaching residents.
- Conduct appropriate evaluation and follow-up of patients in the Hospital Outpatient Department, if needed and assigned.
- Provide direction and leadership to the Hospital's other professional staff, including researchers, nurses, nursing assistants, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, behavioral medicine specialists, and others in their duties that relate directly to your inpatient and outpatient services.
- Provide 24/7 on-call coverage for Hospital patients on an equal basis with the other medical staff practitioners assigned to your coverage team. Such on-call coverage shall be mutually determined by your coverage team and/or the Hospital Acting Chief Medical Officer.
- Perform such other duties as assigned by the Hospital's Acting Chief Medical Officer, after consultation with you.
Minimum qualifications
- Candidate must have, or be eligible for, a NYS Medical License.
- Candidate must have completed clinical training in an ACGME-accredited Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency Program.
- Experience with patient clinical care and teaching residents.
