What to Expect

The Technical Project Manager reporting to the program execution leader is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering complex engineering projects from concept through closeout. This role works at the intersection of technical execution, cost, schedule, and stakeholder coordination, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while meeting quality and regulatory requirements. Candidates should expect a fast-paced environment with high accountability and direct ownership of project outcomes. This position demands not just outstanding operational performance in delivering projects, but also strategic contributions to how Tesla expands and integrates emerging technologies within its rapidly evolving manufacturing environment.


What You'll Do
  • Lead cross-disciplinary engineering teams through all project phases, from early planning and design through construction and commissioning
  • Work alongside R&D and engineering groups to grasp technology development schedules and convert them into essential infrastructure requirements
  • Create and oversee comprehensive project timelines, including key milestones, critical path monitoring, budget projections, and risk assessments
  • Direct cross-team coordination and execution of significant capital projects, spanning from site assessments and facility planning to equipment setup and activation
  • Optimization of customer provided inputs with data driven metrics
  • Responsible for peer reviews and actionable feedback with a first principles engineering mindset
  • Manage technical program oversight, including phase-gate evaluations, backup planning, and handling changes throughout all stages

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience managing engineering focused deliverables or capital projects
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-discipline teams (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil, controls)
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, including cost management, scheduling, and change management
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, energy, or infrastructure environments preferred
  • Willingness to travel as required, typically under 30%
