POSITION SUMMARY In collaboration with the Endowed Professor of the Breitbach Catholic Thinkers and Leaders Program, this position supports the faith formation and leadership development of 60 undergraduate students through program coordination, teaching, and mentoring. With the Kucera Center Director, this position coordinates Pastoral Study Days for Archdiocese of Dubuque and fulfills other administrative duties. With Religious Studies and Theology faculty, this position assists in coordinating capstone experiences for majors and provides ancillary support for parish leadership programming. Master's degree in theology or related field strongly preferred. Requires regular night and/or weekend work. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE The Breitbach Catholic Thinkers and Leaders Program falls under the Office of Academic Affairs and Office of the President. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential Functions Statement(s) Breitbach Catholic Thinkers and Leaders Program
- Given that the College is a diocesan Catholic college, will carry out your functions of your position in support of the College's Catholic Identity, mission and in support of Church teachings.
- Collaborate to mentor and promote students' spiritual, intellectual, human, and practical formation.
- Goal review meetings in fall and spring with all BCTL students
- Teach BCTL Seminar on Social Justice (2 credit senior course)
- Advise Senior BCTL leadership project and retreat development
- Planning and facilitation of BCTL sophomore formation dinners
- Guide BCTL sophomore community partnerships
- Preparation for and participation in BCTL sophomore urban immersion experience in Chicago
- Coordinate practical arrangements for BCTL retreat
- Review and selection of BCTL candidates including facilitation of application process and communication with candidates
- Attendance at monthly BCTL Sunday dinners; coordinating speakers
- Coordinate BCTL alumni Homecoming reception
- Promotes the mission and vision of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Archbishop Kucera Center for Catholic Intellectual and Spiritual Life
- Serves on the Archdiocesan Pastoral Study Day Committee for the fall and spring
- Secures a contract with the selected event center, makes reservations, and ensures payment.
- Works with speakers on securing their W-9 to receive payment, and mode of travel, if needed. Secures speaker's AV needs, handouts, etc.
- Makes hotel reservations for all attendees helping with the event.
- Orders food and drinks for breaks and lunch, compiles all information and stuffs folder packets with prayer leaflets and materials produced for the particular event.
- Helps set up the day before events, helps with registration, checks on all complaints of attendees throughout the day-sound system, comfort levels of a/c, bathroom problems, food concerns, etc.
- Compiles a report of all income and expenses for the Committee at conclusion of both events and after check requisitions are filled out and payments have been made.
- Helps coordinate and facilitate the Loras faculty/staff book club.
- Promotes the mission and vision of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Religious Studies and Theology Program
- Ancillary support of program's outreach to and collaboration with the Archdiocese of Dubuque.
- Development of relationships with parishes, schools, and non-profits as sites for student practica including identification of mentors/supervisors; site visits; helping match students to sites; fostering good communication around expectations between students and supervisors; helping students engage in theological reflection on their experiences.
- Potential teaching of Catholic traditions course (3 credit general education course).
- Promotes the mission and vision of the College and respects the College's Catholic tradition.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES Education A master's degree in Theology or related field is strongly preferred at time of hire. A master's degree will be required for the position, but may be in progress rather than complete at the time the position begins. Experience Two to four years related experience. Commitment to the College's mission and support for the Catholic liberal arts tradition. Ability to carry out responsibilities of the position in support of the College's Catholic identity and mission and in support of Church teachings" Computer Skills Knowledge of PC Platform, Microsoft Office Suite to include desktop publishing, word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, electronic messaging and calendaring, and database management. Certificates & Licenses Other Requirements Must be a practicing Roman Catholic. Knowledgeable about Roman Catholic traditions and practices. Working knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching and service learning highly desirable. Knowledge of archdiocesan structures.
