Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting in the development and execution of Canterbury Park's advertising and promotional plan for live racing, Casino and events to generate business growth and achieve marketing objectives. This includes the planning and execution of advertising, promotions, social media, marketing materials (including collateral, signage and tickets), website and more. Assists in planning and executing internal marketing campaigns as requested by other departments. Will oversee the Sign Shop Coordinator, Graphic Designer and a crew of summer interns. Responsible for supporting the Company's mission, vision, and values by providing an unparalleled experience of fun and entertainment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Leads by example
  • Responsible for maintaining a high degree of hospitality, as well as a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Creates high levels of morale, fosters teamwork, and inspires collaboration.
  • Develop a wide range of marketing and gambling promotions and events to engage fans and drive visitors.
  • Lead the planning, implementation and execution of all live racing marketing, while supporting the marketing and promotions for the Card Casino and Simulcast racebook.
  • Manage content creation and distribution for Canterbury Park communication channels including e-mail marketing, website, digital signage and more, managing workflows, deadlines and approvals.
  • Provide inspiration, creative direction and copywriting for promotional assets, ads and collateral.
  • Lead Canterbury Park media buying process, including budgeting, media selection, ad trafficking, etc.
  • Oversee the creation, curation and publication of social media content across all platforms. Monitor social platforms in real time, engaging directly with fans.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure all marketing being produced is on-brand at all times.
  • Coordinate production of Canterbury's live racing program, program ad schedule and digital messaging schedule.
  • Provide timely inter-office communication regarding promotions and marketing initiatives.
  • Work with Director of Corporate Sponsorship to both enhance partnership opportunities and assist with sponsorship fulfillment.
  • Design basic marketing assets as graphic design backup. These might include signs, presentations and/or social assets.
  • Oversees Canterbury Park Jr. Graphic Designer, Sign Shop Coordinator and summer internship program.
  • Provide clear leadership and mentorship to direct reports, freelancers and agency partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:



  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • 4 Year Degree in marketing related field preferred
  • 3-5 years' experience in a marketing related field
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Previous experience with social media and interactive technologies.
  • Canterbury Park conducts pre-employment screening for all positions which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
  • Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, evenings and/or holidays.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • General knowledge of horse racing and card casino gaming.
  • Basic design knowledge
