Mechanical Design Engineer

Oconomowoc, WI | On-site

At Sentry Equipment, being an employee-owner means more than having a stake in the company-it means taking pride in what we build, how we work, and how we support one another. As a 100% employee-owned organization, we believe the best solutions come from collaborative teams who lean in, think critically, and take ownership from concept to completion.

We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to help design and develop high-quality engineered products that serve customers in demanding industrial environments. If you enjoy solving complex problems, working cross-functionally, and seeing your designs come to life on the shop floor, this could be a great fit.

What You'll Do

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, analyzing, and improving products across our portfolio. You'll balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-while helping mentor others on the engineering team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyze new and existing products for design, function, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Create and refine mechanical part and assembly drawings to capture design intent and meet customer requirements
  • Evaluate new applications and designs for operational, manufacturing, and application feasibility
  • Prepare drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Installation, Operation & Maintenance manuals, and other technical documentation
  • Apply applicable codes and standards such as ASME, ATEX, ANSI, TEMA, CRN, and others as required
  • Assist with testing and debugging products in the shop
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and service teams to resolve issues and implement design changes through the Engineering Change process
  • Support new product development, product modifications, and related technical and marketing documentation
  • Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and technicians
  • Take on other responsibilities as business needs evolve
