Seasonal Admissions and Experiences Zoo Worker (16+)

Hourly Range: $11.23 - 20.04



Job Summary: This role is responsible for interacting with guests, including greeting, thanking, and processing ticket sales. Providing a great guest experience is our #1 priority. This can be a fast-paced work environment and requires computer and communication skills. Throughout the Zoo, shifts are mainly standing and outdoors for admissions, parking, and the various experiences.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Customer Service: The Visitor Services Department will provide a great guests experience and promote animal conservation by following standard procedures, reciting narratives with kindness and consistency, and staying current with zoo knowledge.
  • Cash Handling: Properly handle ticket sales and payment transactions using a Point-of-Sales system. Sell tickets for Zoo admission/parking and various experiences. Responsible for cash pickup, verifying of funds, and cash check out.
  • Operations: Knowledge of Admission and Experience procedures and duties, including cleaning of assigned area, picking of debris, equipment inspections and operation of exhibits and switchboard.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Must be at least 16 years of age upon application.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • High School diploma or GED


  • Valid driver license
  • Previous work experience with cashiering or money handling
  • Previous work experience in customer service



Additional Comments:



  • All Zoo Workers are responsible for cash handling and customer service
  • Zoo Workers 3 and 4 may act as lead workers and switchboard operators
  • In addition, Zoo Workers 4 responsibilities include service recovery and emergency preparedness



Note: This Original Examination is open to all qualified applicants authorized to work in the United States. In accordance with Rule III section 11 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. The non-competitive examination will consist of a review of candidate materials, education and related experience.
