DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The University of California's Digital Innovation & Technology (UC DigIT) department powers the digital ecosystem that supports UC's academic, research, and administrative mission. As the systemwide digital engine, UC DigIT transforms complex enterprise systems, infrastructure, and security services into inclusive and human-centered solutions designed to meet challenges at UC scale.

POSITION SUMMARY

The UC Student Finance Summer Intern provides project-based support to the department's finance team while gaining hands-on experience with University of California budgeting, financial reporting, and internal control practices. This entry-level role is designed for currently enrolled students and emphasizes learning, mentorship, and supervised skill development.

The Student Intern will assist with defined assignments of limited scope and complexity under close supervision and will not perform the full responsibilities of a Financial Analyst career position nor exercise independent fiscal authority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and organize financial data for assigned projects

  • Assist with basic reconciliations and transaction review

  • Support preparation of draft financial reports and spreadsheets

  • Help track expenses against approved budgets

  • Conduct limited research to support budget planning activities

  • Maintain documentation consistent with UC financial policies and procedures

  • All work is reviewed and finalized by a supervisor

Qualifications
  • Exclusively open to current University of California undergraduate or graduate students in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field

  • Basic knowledge of financial principles (through coursework)

  • Basic proficiency in Excel or similar spreadsheet tools

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple tasks in a structured environment

Learning & Development

This internship provides exposure to UC financial systems, fund management practices, and stewardship responsibilities. The selected University of California student will receive ongoing supervision, mentoring, and feedback throughout the appointment.

Duration: June-August 2026 (specific dates flexible)

Schedule: Full time (40 hours per week)

Location: Fully Remote

Salary: $25.00 hourly
