Job Objective:
The Midstream Accountant is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting activities related to midstream oil and gas operations. This role assists with the preparation and recording of journal entries, reconciliations, invoice reviews, and basic financial reporting tasks. Working under the guidance of senior accountants or accounting managers, the Midstream Accountant ensures the accuracy and completeness of financial data. This position handles basic transactions, analyses, and problem solving.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and issue daily and monthly NGL sales invoices to third-party customers.
  • Process routine NGL transportation invoices.
  • Assist tax department in issuance of timely PERC payments.
  • Reconcile to internal or third-party statements to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Record daily and monthly general ledger entries related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain up-to-date reconciliations related to assigned assets
  • Participate in monthly meetings
  • Respond to inquiries promptly and professionally
  • Prepare supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Track and monitor accruals, prepaids, and capital project activities.
  • Assist in preparing documentation to support financial reporting and audit processes.
  • Coordinate with other departments to gather and review financial inputs related to accounting responsibilities.
  • Support the preparation and review of internal reports and variance analyses.
  • Contribute to data integrity and consistency across financial systems and reports.

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years minimum of accounting experience required, preferably in oil and gas.
  • Ability to identify and analyze accounting and financial reporting questions and develop solutions responsive to those questions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex financial information into an organized and presentable manner.
  • Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
    • Required: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Basic to moderate understanding of accounting systems (e.g., SAP, OneStream), GAAP, FERC, and data reconciliation processes

Education Requirements, Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a concentration in accounting/finance required.
