GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision, coordinates the scheduling of Interventional procedures for outpatients. Acts as a liaison between the Interventional division personnel and the referring physicians, both in-house and off-campus, and, with the personnel of the short stay unit. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Explains procedure to patients and may be involved in preparing the patient for the examination. Coordinates daily schedules for out- patients to avoid conflict between the OPD and IPD Interventional procedures. * Coordinates, often under emergency situations, patient transfers and admissions to HFH from the medical centers, other system hospitals, and occasionally from other states or countries. * Instructs patients and family members on Interventional pre and post procedure care. Responsible for follow-up calls to post OPD Interventional patients. * Obtains medication history and documents patients' pre and post procedural status, discontinues medication if necessary with physician's approval. * May assist radiologists in the recovery room, monitor patients, secure pre and post procedure vital signs, etc. * May perform venipuncture and intravenous therapy as needed, sends blood to appropriate labs. * Acts as a liaison between Interventional and referring physicians, to include providing preliminary report, etc. * Collects lab and other test results for out-patients scheduled for the day. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required * Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with the advanced registry in Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI); VascularInterventional Radiography (VI), or Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV) * Minimum of two years of experience in Interventional Radiology required * Must maintain required hours of continued medical education * Must maintain a Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS) Additional Information
