Facilities Management (FM) is offering an exciting opportunity for a Zone Maintenance Carpenter to support the department's goal of providing consistent, cost-effective, and reliable carpentry services in the University Central Grounds Zone. This role involves maintaining both historic and modern facilities, including Thomas Jefferson's Academical Village and UNESCO World Heritage Site which features the Rotunda, Pavilions, Lawn & Range Student Rooms, as well as modern academic facilities. The Zone Maintenance Carpenter will be responsible for performing a wide range of carpentry tasks, including repairs, renovations, and installations, with a focus on maintaining the structural integrity and appearance of various buildings. Special attention will be given to historic structures, ensuring that all work aligns with historic preservation standards, while also addressing the functional needs of modern facilities. This position plays a key role in ensuring the quality, safety, and reliability of services provided to the university community, combining traditional carpentry skills with modern maintenance practices to enhance the university's infrastructure. Facilities Management (FM) supports the University of Virginia's wide range of research, academic and patient care programs. With over 1,100 employees dedicated to excellence, Facilities Management is responsible for the day-to-day operation, repair, and maintenance of UVA's buildings, infrastructure, and grounds as well as other University-owned and leased properties. Compensation: $25 - $30 per hour ($52,000 - $62,400 annually); dependent on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. For this position, the selected candidate will need to complete the required background checks prior to the start date of the position. This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and must be performed fully on-site. Physical Demands: Employee must be able to variously sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, lift, pull, and use both hands-on repetitive tasks (including overhead tasks).
