About the role

The Environmental & Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the East Taunton Materials Processing Facility, with a primary focus on RCRA compliance, waste profiling, regulatory reporting, and analytical review, as well as full facility operations oversight. This role requires a technically experienced environmental professional who can independently evaluate waste profiles, interpret analytical data, and ensure regulatory compliance while leading daily facility operations.

The position combines environmental compliance leadership with handson operational management to support the safe, efficient, and compliant processing of wastewater, wet waste, and solid waste. Safety, regulatory integrity, and disciplined execution are core expectations of this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead RCRAcompliant waste profiling, including independent review and approval of analytical data, sampling results, acceptance criteria, and waste characterizations.
  • Ensure full compliance with RCRA regulations, facility permits, and applicable state and federal environmental requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual DEP reports related to wastewater, soil waste, and materials processing permits.
  • Serve as the facility's primary technical and regulatory point of contact for DEP, audits, inspections, and documentation requests.
  • Prioritize, review, and approve incoming waste profiles in NetSuite to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant decisionmaking.
  • Oversee daily facility operations, including wastewater processing, wet waste handling, solid waste workflows, materials processing, and staging activities.
  • Manage inbound and outbound waste logistics, including scheduling, capacity planning, routing, and coordination with DOTcompliant trucking partners.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop facility operators, establishing clear daily, quarterly, and annual performance expectations.
  • Ensure the safe and compliant operation of all facility systems, equipment, and processes, and reinforce safety policies and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate internal compliance logs, shipping and receiving documentation, operational records, and facility documentation.
  • Coordinate and support permit renewals, facility recertification, and permit modification efforts as required.
  • Plan and oversee O&M maintenance activities to ensure operational areas remain clean, organized, and productionready.
  • Identify and implement operational improvements to increase throughput, optimize capacity utilization, and improve facility efficiency and EBITDA performance.
  • Support the development of new waste streams and disposal opportunities in coordination with regional and commercial teams.
  • Communicate scheduling updates, logistics details, and service expectations with internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Prepare cost proposals and support invoicing, collections activities, and AP review as needed.
  • Address daily operational needs, anticipate issues, and establish effective priorities in a fastpaced, regulated facility environment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 4-6 years of experience in waste management, wastewater treatment, environmental compliance, materials processing, or facility operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong experience in RCRA waste profiling is required.
  • Direct experience with RCRA regulatory interpretation and compliance is required.
  • DEP reporting and regulatory interface experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently review analytical data and technical waste profiles.
  • Experience in environmental services or specialized waste management organizations required (Clean Harbors or similar experience preferred).
  • Transfer station, hazardous-waste, or materials-processing facility experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, data management, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret environmental permits, SOPs, safety rules, and technical documentation.
  • Strong problemsolving skills in environments with evolving or limited standardization.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills with operators, regulators, vendors, and clients.
Licenses
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Wastewater Treatment License (2I) preferred.
  • Hydraulics License optional.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Frequent exposure to mechanical equipment and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to humidity, heights, electrical hazards, and vibration.
  • Noise levels are typically loud.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, reaching, or crawling.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Pay Transparency

Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and we strive to provide competitive compensation and benefits packages. The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $87,300.00 - $116,200.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
