Positions with a designated work location in New York City, Nassau, Rockland, Suffolk, or Westchester Counties will receive a $4,000 annual downstate adjustment (pro-rated for part-time positions).

Job Description:

Responsibilities

The Training Specialist I will assist the Preparedness Training and Exercise Manager in organizing and coordinating New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) emergency preparedness training programs and exercises throughout New York State (NYS). Specific duties will include: development and preparation of training course and exercise materials; registration; and management of participant records, databases, and evaluations for course participants across the state on relevant public health preparedness initiatives for Department of Health staff, Local Health Departments (LHD), healthcare partners, and others in the disaster preparedness community; coordinating meetings; analyzing program evaluations; maintaining and contributing data for development of grant applications and reporting requirements; participating in tabletop, functional and full-scale drills/exercises as an evaluator or simulation cell; providing Technical Assistance (TA) for training, management of courses on an electronic Learning Management System (LMS); and providing additional requested support for training and exercise, Other related duties as assigned.

Travel Up to 25%. Occasional work on weekends or after-hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience providing trainings; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience preparing training course support materials as well as tracking course registration and completion. Experience working as part of an interdisciplinary team; proven ability to work professionally with internal and external partners. Experience in disaster preparedness training and exercises is preferrable. Experience with Microsoft applications, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel up to 25% of the time will be required.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with a combination of onsite and remote work.

This position may require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.

Work Location Expectations

At HRI, the nature of hybrid and onsite work varies by position. Some roles require full onsite presence, while others allow a hybrid schedule. Managers determine the specific telecommuting expectations for each role based on operational needs and job responsibilities. If designated as hybrid, you will divide your time between working remotely and reporting onsite. Regardless of telecommuting status, all HRI employees must live within a reasonable commuting distance of their official work location and must reside in one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Vermont.
