Collaborates with faculty and staff to support the development of instructional programs. Applies learning theory and instructional design models in the consultation, selection, and application of educational methodologies and technologies to promote active learning, refine critical thinking, and increase learner success. Configures, integrates, administers, and provides advanced and varied consultation, project management, and operational support of highly complex applications or services with a large number of users.

As a member of the UW-Madison Interprofessional Continuing Education Partnership (ICEP), the School of Medicine and Public Health Office of Continuing Professional Development (OCPD) delivers accredited continuing education planned by, for, and with the healthcare team. We are seeking a ICEP Educational Support and Technology Administrator who thrives at the intersection of digital innovation, systems management, and adult learning science.

This position is primarily focused on the technical infrastructure and operational excellence of our educational offerings, with approximately 40-50% of the role dedicated to the administration, troubleshooting, and strategic implementation of learning technologies.

What the Job Entails

You will serve as the primary technical architect and consultant for our learning platforms. Your workday will include:



  • Technology Management & Troubleshooting: Analyzing, testing, and resolving complex issues within our learning management systems (LMS) and virtual platforms. You will provide technical support to staff and conduct quality assurance review. In addition, provide technical support before and during live, hybrid, and blended activities.

  • Systems Integration & Research: Researching, acquiring, and configuring new technologies to enhance the learner experience. You will ensure sound educational design, accreditation, accessibility, and financial policies and procedures are followed in the ICEP Learning Portal.

  • Instructional Design & Multimedia: Collaborating with staff to design and develop instructional materials, activities, and assessment resources. You will also facilitate communications with LMS vendor to ensure all digital assets meet instructional needs.

  • Compliance & Data Strategy: Advising activity planners on adult learning principles and Joint Accreditation (JA) Criteria to ensure all activities meet ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence. You will also collect and interpret data to identify program needs and enhance overall effectiveness.

  • This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

  • Standard hours: Monday through Friday 8:00a.m.- 4:30p.m.

Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration:


  • Knowledge of Joint Accreditation Criteria and application to practice.
  • Ability to support the operations of an accredited continuing education learner management system.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft applications including Excel and Word
  • Independent and Team Work: Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides training and technical support directly to learners in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums

  • Designs, develops, organizes, maintains, and consults on instructional materials, activities, curricula, and assessment resources in accordance with current pedagogical practices, cognitive/learning science, and design tools and methods

  • Advise activity planners and staff regarding adult learning principles, interprofessional continuing education and accreditation compliance in order to maintain consistent implementation of Joint Accreditation Criteria, ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education, UWSMPH, UW-Madison, and ICEP/OCPD policies and procedures for planning, delivery and evaluation of live, hybrid and blended accredited continuing education activities.

  • Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding learning technologies

  • Provides consultation, training, and/or support for learning technology tools and platforms

  • Designs, develops, and delivers faculty development and engagement programs and activities

  • Researches, designs, and/or acquires learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning

  • Collects, organizes, interprets, and disseminates data to identify instructional program needs and enhance effectiveness

Compensation:

The expected salary range for this position is $68,176 up to $80,000 for highly experienced candidates and actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience supporting and/or facilitating the use of educational applications/technologies
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience demonstrating effective technical problem-solving skills by troubleshooting and resolving application/technology issues
  • Minimum of two years of experience applying adult learning principles to the planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of continuing education activities for health professionals or equivalent
  • Experience engaging adult learners from multiple professions in both virtual and in-person learning environments, with an emphasis on interprofessional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects in a continuing education or professional development setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze data sets and prepare meaningful reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including faculty, clinicians, administrators, and external partners -
  • Demonstrated High-level attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in instructional design using interprofessional education (IPE) and team-based learning principles including creating and implementing educational materials.
  • Experience supporting accreditation compliance with one or more recognized bodies, such as the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), Joint Accreditation for Interprofessional Continuing Education.
  • Developed and updated comprehensive documentation for end-users
  • Proficiency in HTML for web-based technology/applications
  • Experience with data mining and data reporting
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with academic medical center environments, including their structures, cultures, and expectations for education and professional development.
