Job Description

GDS Associates, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Director - Retail Rate Design & Cost of Service in the Rates & Regulatory business unit based out of the Marietta, GA office.

The Director's responsibilities include development of and management of a portfolio of business that includes various clients and/or product line(s). The Director will work to expand the profit center through marketing and proposal efforts that will also include attending trade shows and sales calls with clients, including on client sites. The Director will have supervisory responsibilities of support staff and will designate assignments to complete project deliverables for managed clients. The Director collaborates directly with clients to meet their needs, provides supervision of staff, and participates in recruitment efforts. The Director will report to a Senior Director or Partner.

The Director will have advanced project responsibilities and client responsibilities. The Director will have business development responsibilities and provide moderate support in business planning.



  • Ability to perform and/or manage all elements of a project.
  • Demonstrated mastery of pertinent industry topics.
  • Serves as an expert witness or provides significant support to an expert witness.
  • Client management, client relationship management, and business development.
  • Attends trade shows, speaks at conferences, develops webinars, and presents results to clients on site or via videoconference.
  • Manages lower-level staff.
  • Assists in department planning.

Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, accounting, finance, economics or related field. Master's degree in a qualified field preferred but not required. Accreditations (e.g., Engineer-in-Training, CPA, CEM, etc.) preferred but not required. Registration as a Professional Engineer encouraged for Engineers.
  • Relevant experience of at least (14) fourteen or more years.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience and ability to successfully lead a team.
  • Mentors and trains employees within project team.
  • Manages the workflow of project team/staff.
  • Possesses knowledge of company culture, procedures, and policies.
  • Ability to perform and manage all elements of a project.
  • Demonstrated mastery of pertinent industry topics.
  • Serve as an expert witness or provide significant support to an expert witness.
  • Client management, client relationship management, and business development.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage lower-level staff.
  • Demonstrated leadership and planning abilities.
  • Proficient in all software pertinent to job performance in the job, including all elements of Microsoft Office.
  • Available for moderate domestic travel.
  • Flexibility/availability to work extra hours when necessary to meet project requirements.

Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
