New Student Orientation and Events Specialist

To be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must be either a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree from an accredited college or university with at least one (1) year of customer service experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong customer service skills required. Competent with Microsoft applications, some evening/weekend hours are required. Experience in Higher Education is preferred.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The New Student Orientation and Events Specialist reports to the Director of First Year Experience and Orientation Programs or their designee and performs the following duties:
* Serves as primary point of contact for new students and families, responding to orientation-related inquiries via phone, email, and in person.

* Coordinates and manages logistics for New Student and Parent/Family Orientation programs, including scheduling, staffing, facilities, materials and supplies.

* Deliver presentations and facilitates sessions for large groups of students and families during orientation and first-year programs.

* Supports the development and execution of communication plans linking orientation, advisement, and enrollment processes.

* Collaborates with campus departments to identify targeted student populations and manage data, extraction, reporting and communications.

* Maintains orientation registration systems, schedules and participant data, coordinates session change and post-event communications.

* Trains, supervises, and evaluates orientation leaders, peer mentors, and college workers as assigned.

* Assists with planning and the delivery of first-year experience initiatives, including Accepted Students' Day and student success programming.

* Services as liaison to Student Services offices and the primary contact for Student Financial Services related to the orientation processes.

* Assists with assessment, evaluation and continuous improvement of orientation programs and materials.

* Provides support for placement testing, including scheduling, proctoring and compliance with institutional and state policies.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $42,000-$44,000.
