Responsibilities:
  • Manage large daily volume of food pantry visitors and ensure organized entry into food pantry
  • Exercise effective line management to ensure visitors maintain respectful behavior towards each other and staff
  • Communicate requirements of intake process clearly and thoroughly to visitors ahead of registration
  • Support the intake process by guiding visitors through check in and entering their information accurately into the digital intake system. Answer visitors' questions and maintain a calm, friendly atmosphere
  • Support multilingual visitors by offering translation help to ensure they fully understand available food options
  • Ensure all visitors receive the appropriate food items in an organized and timely manner within a fast-paced environment
  • Respond to dietary needs and preferences by offering safe and appropriate substitutions while maintaining fairness and inventory accuracy
  • Monitor inventory levels throughout distribution periods and proactively inform supervisor of quantities to prepare for restock plans to prevent shortages
  • Help receive and unload incoming food deliveries, ensuring products are handled safely and stored promptly
  • Coordinate with delivery drivers to guide parking logistics and direct proper placement of goods to streamline unloading and storage
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of customer-facing work experience is required. Experience working with the public or in community-facing roles is preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequently reaching and grasping objects at, above and below shoulder level
  • Frequently stooping and bending, sitting and standing
  • Regularly grasping and fine manipulation with hands
Experience:
  • Customer service and rapport-building
  • Clear, effective, and open communication
  • Collaborative teamwork
  • Empathetic, patient, respectful, and culturally aware
  • Second language proficiency preferred
  • Foundational computer skills, including data entry and software navigation preferred

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
