THE POSITION

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Delaware Valley Veterans' Home is seeking a dedicated Food Service Supervisor. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Food Service Supervisor, you will oversee the overall preparation and service of food to residents in a long-term care facility. You will supervise Cooks and Food Servers and ensure the efficient delivery of daily food service. Duties will include:


  • Inputting resident food preferences, diet orders, new admissions, discharges, and leaves into the Geri Menu system
  • Preparing menus and determining food quantities for daily service and special functions
  • Supervising portioning, plating, and handling of food
  • Completing daily job assignment sheets
  • Developing training to ensure safe, efficient operations of a quality food service program in a health care setting
  • Evaluating employee performance and documenting related information

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. You will work rotating days and weekends.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of paid experience in food production and/or service and successful completion of a Certified Dietary Manager course; or
  • Two years as a Food Service Worker (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) and/or production experience, and an Associate degree with major course work in food production and food service; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which consists of experience in an institutional setting preparing specialized therapeutic diets, or course work in food production, food service or a related field.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Previous food service worker experience

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
