CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Traffic & ITS Team as a technical leader and mentor in Miami, FL; Winter Springs, FL; Coral Springs, FL; or Tampa, FL. In this senior level role, you will provide leadership across traffic engineering, operations, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) initiatives that support safer, more efficient, and more connected transportation networks. This position offers the opportunity to influence high impact projects, guide technical excellence, and help shape the next generation of smarter transportation systems while mentoring and developing future engineering leaders.



What You'll Do:

    Lead the design and development of complex engineering analyses, reports, plans, and specifications for Traffic & ITS projects
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in traffic operations, safety, and ITS, providing guidance and resolving complex technical challenges
  • Lead advanced projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and project managers to deliver integrated traffic and ITS solutions that address congestion, safety, system performance, and multimodal mobility
  • Develop and manage discipline work plans, ensuring deliverables align with project schedule, scope, and budget requirements
  • Guide and mentor junior engineering staff, including providing technical oversight and QA/QC review
  • Support proposal development, client presentations, and technical discussions with clients, public stakeholders, and regulatory agencies


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive traffic engineering experience required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Experience in ITS planning, design, and implementation
  • Familiarity with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) ITS standards and guidelines preferred
  • Expert knowledge of the traffic engineering principles, operations analysis, and ITS technologies with a proven ability to apply best practices
  • Advanced proficiency with traffic analysis and design tools such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, MicroStation, and/or AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, engineering standards, and applicable regulations
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations (ITE, ASCE, etc.) preferred

Salary Range:

$140,000 - $160,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
