Laser/Fab Industrial Technician

Pay Rate: $90,000 - $100,000 / Year

Summary:

Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining laser, fabrication, and welding equipment. The position focuses on improving equipment uptime and reducing downtime across all fabrication operations.

This individual will work cross-functionally with other departments within the facility to ensure preventive maintenance (PM) activities are completed on schedule and equipment reliability is maintained.

The role will also support the implementation of new CMMS software, ensuring preventive maintenance tasks are properly defined and scheduled to minimize unnecessary downtime and improve equipment performance.

This position requires strong analytical capability, hands-on experience with laser, fabrication, and welding equipment, as well as solid communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review current laser, welding, and fabrication equipment to identify improvement opportunities and operational issues
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain fabrication and laser equipment to ensure reliability and minimize downtime
• Assist in implementation of CMMS software and support maintenance cost-reduction initiatives
• Apply structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to address equipment and process issues
• Partner cross-functionally and leverage global best practices to improve manufacturing performance
• Deliver direct feedback and make tough decisions when required to resolve operational challenges
• Translate strategy into results with urgency, accountability, and strong follow-through
• Inspire and empower teams while supporting a culture of continuous improvement

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education in Maintenance, Industrial Maintenance, or Maintenance Management
• 5+ years of experience in maintenance and manufacturing/factory support
• Formal OSHA safety training
• Willingness to think outside the box and contribute new ideas for improvement
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and complete tasks with minimal supervision
