Genesis10 is currently seeking a Network Security Administrator - Remote position with a Major Telecommunications Company located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity.
This role focuses on configuring and managing local credentials and user access on network elements. The ideal candidate will work with engineering and operations teams to maintain secure authentication systems, support access workflows, and ensure all activities adhere to internal security standards and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and maintain local credentials (user accounts, passwords, access roles) on network elements during device installation and activation
- Perform periodic credential maintenance, including password rotations, account updates, and role changes at the request of equipment owners
- Manage break glass/emergency access accounts where operationally required; ensure compliant handling and vaulting of emergency credentials
- Support devices requiring local authentication and ensure proper fallback mechanisms exist when TACACS+/AAA is deployed
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and audit logs of all credential activities
- Understand workgroup specific access needs and map them to appropriate privilege levels (least privilege access)
- Participate in defining and improving workflow handoffs with Engineering, NOC, and other operational teams
- Ensure all credentialing actions adhere to internal security standards and compliance requirements
- Collaborate cross functionally to troubleshoot access issues and support operational security demands
Requirements:
- Experience with network devices (routers, switches, transport/optical systems, etc)
- Understanding of local vs AAA authentication (TACACS+, RADIUS) and fallback access workflows
- Practical experience creating, modifying, and auditing user accounts and roles in technical environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive credential information securely
- Ability to follow established processes and produce clear documentation
- Effective communication skills for coordination with multiple operational groups
- Scripting ability to automate work across device types
Desired skills:
- Experience with carrier grade network equipment (Cisco, Juniper, Calix, Adtran, etc)
- Familiarity with credential vaulting systems and automated rotation tools
- Knowledge of break glass policies and emergency access protocols
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements
- Security certifications (Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security, or similar)
- Background in telecom, network operations, or network security
- Experience with TACACS+ / RADIUS authentication systems
- Experience with credential vaulting tools, network management platforms, and ticketing/request systems (ServiceNow, Remedy, etc)
Pay range: $23.00 - $25.00
