Description
As a Staff Research Associate I (SRA I) in the Department of Pediatrics, you will conduct routine laboratory experiments, including DNA and RNA isolation, Western blotting, qPCR, DNA cloning, cell culture, immunofluorescent staining of whole-mount samples, and murine colony management (breeding, weaning, genotyping/screening, tamoxifen administration, etc.). This role also involves acquiring z-stack images using confocal microscopy for fixed and live whole-mount samples, as well as performing organ myograph studies. In addition, the Staff Research Associate I will support routine laboratory maintenance and research administration, including data entry and analysis, maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment, and assisting with chemical and biohazard waste disposal. This is a limited position that may convert to career. Salary Range: $28.69 - 34.21 Hourly
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S. Degree) or equivalent in Molecular
Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field and/or equivalent experience/training. - One (1) year experience working in chemistry lab, preparing
solution for experiments and following lab safety procedures for handling chemical and biohazard waste. - One (1) year experience working with murine experimental
models, including handling, genotyping, administering drugs (needle gavage), and colony maintenance. - Working knowledge of standard laboratory equipment and
supplies, and working experience with molecular biology techniques. - Ability to work on several projects simultaneously and able
to switch focus as needed. - Working experience in generating, expanding, and
manipulating murine and human intestinal epithelial lines (enteroids). Including isolating the intestinal muscularis of murine pup samples and expanding cells in culture. - Must have experience working with Leica Confocal
SP8-STED/FLIM/FCS systems, IncuCyte live-cell imaging, spinning disk confocal live cells imaging. - Working knowledge of Imaris image analysis software.
- Working knowledge of dual-wire myographs and organ bath
systems, including data processing in LabChart. - Excellent attention to detail for accurate data entry and
analysis - Working knowledge and ability in the use of computers (PC
and Mac operating systems) and using various computer software applications. - Ability to maintain organized and accurate laboratory
records, including those necessary to efficiently schedule experiments, maintain equipment, establish usable data archives, and bill for recharge services provided by the core facility

- General knowledge of university procedures

including occasional overtime to meet deadlines.
