Description

Brown and Caldwell (BC) is seeking a Project Manager to lead Construction Services (CS) projects as part of BC's integrated team. The Construction Services Project Manager role independently completes difficult assignments providing advanced technical support for construction projects. The role requires considerable independent judgement to solve a range of problems. The role leverages advanced or specialized skills to devise new techniques and approaches requiring sound decision making.

The ideal candidate possesses effective networking, communication, and organization skills to collaborate across various BC business units, with key clients, and valued external subcontractor/supplier partners to deliver at-risk projects using design-build (DB), engineering-procurement-construction (EPC), and construction management at risk (CMAR) delivery models. This position will work under the direction of an experienced Senior Manager to water/wastewater projects for private sector and municipal clients.

The PM will collaborate and partner with other BC professionals experienced in engineering, compliance and permitting, cost estimating, operations/maintenance/monitoring (OM&M), and construction procurement and management to deliver solutions that meet BC's standards of excellence for safety, quality, risk management, and profitability. Key private sector clients will span production (food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, mining, manufacturing), distribution (retail, technology, transportation, waste), and energy (oil/gas, chemicals, power) market areas. Municipal clients may include major metropolitan and smaller community utilities.

Responsibilities



  • Complete difficult assignments independently and without the need for assistance.
  • Apply advanced technical skills to solve difficult installation and/or equipment issues.
  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of submittal and RFI logs.
  • Manage construction schedules and budgets to ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor progress and implement updates in the construction schedule.
  • Oversee change management throughout the construction process.
  • Oversee the development of O&M manuals.
  • Plan and participate in startup and commissioning activities.
  • Support subcontractors and vendors in interpreting design documents.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors for given scopes.
  • Actively participates in the development and implementation of the quality management plan.
  • Oversees development and tracking of punch lists.
  • Perform constructability reviews on early design stages of projects.
  • Work collaboratively with team members keeping all stakeholders informed and up to date.
  • Evaluate complicated contractor proposals and make recommendations to the project team.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.


Mentorship



  • May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.


Skills & Competencies



  • Advanced knowledge of construction processes and principles, as well as industry and local codes/standards and their practical application.
  • Advanced understanding of different contractual delivery methods, such as: Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMAR, EPC, etc.
  • Expertise in all phases of construction.
  • Proven ability to manage construction schedules and subcontractor/vendor relationships.
  • Robust creative and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to utilize project management/document management software (such as Procore) to retrieve, view, and update details concerning technical documents.


Experience



  • Typically, a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in construction services or related field is required.


Relevant Experience



  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience is required.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in civil/environmental/mechanical/electrical/chemical engineering
  • Experience in consulting, construction, operations/maintenance/monitoring (OM&M) for water/wastewater projects.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certification (or ability to obtain) preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Proficiency in standard computer programs such as MS Word, MS Teams, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Project.


Salary Range:

The salary pay range for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A:
Salary: $72,000 - $98,000

Location B:
Salary $79,000 - $108,000

Location C:
Salary: $87,000 - $118,000
