Job Description:

Ryan Companies is hiring for a Real Estate Financial Systems Analyst in Minneapolis, MN! This role will support our Finance and Real Estate Management (REM) Accounting team by providing research, data mining, analysis, reporting, and interpretation of financial and operational performance metrics derived from real estate accounting systems. This plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and usability of system data used for financial reporting, operational oversight, and decision-making across a real estate portfolio.

The position is hands-on and execution-oriented, with responsibility for supporting real estate accounting systems, assisting end users, and contributing to process improvement initiatives. The role operates within established accounting, system, and governance frameworks while building increasing expertise in system functionality, business processes, and cross-platform data integration.

Some things you can expect to do:

1. REM Accounting Systems Management - 50%

  • Generate, review, and interpret financial and operational reports using aggregate data from MRI, Yardi, Nexus, and JDE.

  • Support the configuration, maintenance, and day-to-day use of real estate accounting systems, including:

    • Chart of accounts structures and property hierarchies

    • Budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts

    • Recoveries, CAM, and operating expense pass-throughs

    • Period-end close and management reporting processes

  • Review system data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency; investigate variances or discrepancies and support resolution.

  • Respond to data, reporting, and system-related requests from Finance leadership, REM Accounting teams, and internal stakeholders.

  • Partner with the Financial Technology group to support system integrations, data flows, testing, and issue resolution.

  • Assist with system upgrades, enhancements, and the onboarding of new properties or portfolios into existing systems.

  • Support audit readiness by ensuring data integrity, documentation, and adherence to established controls and procedures.

2. Team Support, Backup Coverage & Business Continuity - 25%

  • Provide day-to-day functional support to REM Accounting teams related to system usage, reporting, and data questions.

  • Act as backup coverage for key system-dependent accounting processes to ensure continuity during absences or peak periods.

  • Assist with onboarding and training of accounting staff on system workflows, reporting tools, and best practices.

  • Develop, maintain, and update system documentation, job aids, process guides, and reference materials.

  • Translate accounting and operational requirements into system-supported solutions under guidance, escalating complex issues as appropriate.

3. Process Improvement, KPI Support & Scenario Analysis - 25%

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency through enhanced system usage and reporting.

  • Conduct data analysis to support business reviews, trend analysis, and scenario planning (exit / maintain / grow).

  • Support the development, maintenance, and reporting of KPIs and benchmarks related to:

    • Close efficiency and cycle times

    • Data accuracy, rework, and error reduction

    • Portfolio-level financial and operational performance

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and standardized reporting tools used by Finance and leadership.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing manual processes and improving scalability.

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of related experience in financial systems, real estate accounting, or finance operations.

  • Minimum of 1-4 years of lease audit or commercial real estate experience using basic accounting principles.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain system and financial concepts clearly.

  • Working knowledge of financial terms and principles; ability to perform intermediate financial analysis.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and quantitative problem-solving skills.

  • Intermediate experience with MS Office products, with heavy emphasis on Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience using query tools, report-generation tools, and data analysis utilities.

  • Hands-on experience with MRI or Yardi required; exposure to JDE and payment platforms such as Nexus preferred.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across Finance, Accounting, and Technology teams.

You will really stand out if you have:

  • Financial Statement preparation experience

  • General Ledger account reconciliation experience

  • Experience supporting accounting or ERP systems in a multi-property or portfolio-based environment preferred

  • Proficient experience with Yardi, MRI, and/or JDE E1 software

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, emphasis on Excel

Compensation:

The salary range is $90,000 - 115,000. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include overtime, commission and/or an incentive program. The base salary may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills and abilities.
