I. JOB OVERVIEW






Job Description Summary:
The George Washington School of Nursing (GW Nursing) drives innovation and improvements in health care worldwide through the education of compassionate nurses, esteemed educators and researchers, entrepreneurial leaders, and influential policy Experts.

The George Washington University School of Nursing is seeking a Simulation Operations Associate. This position will report to, and work closely with, the Director of Simulation to ensure best practices of the simulation are utilized to enhance student learning. This position requires demonstrated critical thinking skills along with hands-on involvement to support and drive continued innovation, expertise, and learning impact in the simulation lab environment.

  • Support Lab Director and faculty instructors in the implementation of lab objectives, daily lesson plans and overall program coordination.
  • Under general direction of Simulation Lab Director or designee, manages daily operations of SON Simulation Labs. Responsible for general lab organization and function. Serves as first point of contact for technical lab support.
  • Serves as internal and external lab liaison to coordinate all lab activities including preparation and clean up. Ensures that labs are clean and fully equipped with all appropriate supplies, equipment and learning resources. Basic maintenance and cleaning of all equipment.
  • Provide potential solutions and suggestions to Simulation Director.
  • Manages lab inventory including purchasing and record keeping. Orders supplies, processes payments, drafts service contracts. Prepares and processes expense justifications, Travel and Expense Reimbursements, Payment Requests and maintains departmental Position Description Template purchase card. Maintains appropriate records, files and accounts, institutes and/or enforces accountability through data analysis.
  • Trains faculty, staff and students on the use of lab equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • This role will require work on weekends and evenings and is based at GW's Virginia Science & Technology Campus in Ashburn, Virginia.


Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • EMT, CNA, LPN, RN or other similar allied-health related certification or license.
  • Simulation Operation Technician Certification desired or the ability to obtain certification within 2 years of employment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a health or IT-related field.
  • Experience with medical simulation training.
  • Experience supporting faculty in an academic environment.
  • Experience in an academic health system.

Hiring Range $51,455.52 - $70,708.76
