Job Summary:



Provides hands-on technical assistance in all aspects of new product design, development, testing, and documentation of industrial automation equipment. Creatively applying engineering design principles towards innovative solutions and problem-solving initiatives.



Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions of the Job:



  • Contribute to the holistic design (mechanical aspects) of industrial automation equipment with an emphasis on mechanical systems.
  • Provide hands-on problem-solving that drives design improvements including collecting and analyzing data.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis per specific project requirements.
  • Provide engineering support services relating to prototype equipment fabrication, assembly, and testing as needed.
  • Document and communicate results in a clear and concise manner for effective knowledge transfer.
  • Actively participate in project planning and review meetings to define action plans, resource plans, schedules, budgets, risk assessments and contingency plans.
  • Professionally present JOA technology or project updates to key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with others (including in person) to proactively develop broad-based personal knowledge, skills, and abilities towards key JOA competencies in order to develop, design and troubleshoot JOA equipment.



Occasional Job Responsibilities:



  • Assist with assembly of equipment.


  • Apply statistics to data, identify trends, establish correlations, and draw conclusions.



Job Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; or equivalent academic and practical experience.


  • 0-3 years of engineering design experience with converting equipment.


  • Strong analytic skills to troubleshoot equipment/processes and implement solutions.
  • Ability to effectively utilize complex software for design, problem solving, and documentation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate among a team.



Physical Requirements:



  • Ability to work a full day on a computer.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to twenty-five pounds in weight.
  • Ability to use hand tools and monitoring/testing equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally climb a ladder and maneuver into tight spaces.
  • Ability to work area in an environment that is loud and without air conditioning during machine commissioning and/or problem-solving.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (safety shoes, glasses, ear protection).
  • Must travel for company business up to (~20%) international and domestic travel.
