ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Forklift Operator, you are responsible for safely operating forklift equipment to move, load, and unload materials throughout the facility and yard. This role includes performing routine equipment inspections, ensuring proper material handling and placement, and supporting production activities in the steel shop as needed. You will work in a fast-paced environment where safety, efficiency, and attention to detail are essential to keeping operations running smoothly.

WHAT YOU'LL DO



  • Operate the Forklift in a safe and appropriate manner on rough terrain.
  • Unload and stack material by raising and lowering the lifting device.
  • Position forks, lifting platforms, or other lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, boxes, or other materials.
  • Move levers, shift gears, depress the pedal, and maneuver the steering wheel to operate the equipment.
  • Perform safety inspections on forklifts.
  • Assists in the steel shop with other duties such as palletizing materials, loading and unloading trucks, painting, organizing materials, and other assignments as requested or required by supervisor.


WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a safety-focused and dependable individual with forklift experience and strong attention to detail. The ideal candidate is reliable, follows safety procedures, and is willing to support a variety of shop and production tasks. This person works well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE



  • High school diploma or equivalent but not required.
  • Experience operating a forklift in a construction setting preferred.
  • Forklift Certificate preferred but not required.


WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 lbs occasionally and frequent bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, squatting, crawling, and repetitive hand/arm use
  • Capable of standing, walking, and moving throughout the facility for extended shifts of up to 12 hours
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, and man lifts frequently
  • Ability to work safely in a production or field environment with moderate to high exposure to safety risks and hazards
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including wet, hot, humid, and cold weather, and outdoors year-round
  • Ability to wear all required PPE, including but not limited to safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, high visibility vest, hard hat, and other PPE as required by the task, department, or work area.
