Primary Function

Provides specialized nursing care for individuals with acute and chronic behavioral health needs in a high-security facility, emphasizing safety, stabilization, and continuity of care.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health nursing assessments, medication administration, and monitoringfortherapeutic response and side effects.
• Implement suicide prevention protocols, observation levels, and de-escalation techniques.
• Coordinate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and custody staff for treatment planning and crisis intervention.
• Maintainaccuratedocumentation, MARs, and handoffs;participatein CQI and case reviews.
• Provide psychoeducation groups and discharge/transfer planning to support continuity of care.

Job Requirements

• Active RN license with at least 2+ years of psychiatric/behavioral health experience.
• BLS/CPR; CPI or equivalent de-escalation certification preferred.
• Knowledge of psychopharmacology, suicide risk assessment, and trauma-informed care.
• Ability to obtain and maintain necessary clearances and credentials required for access to detention facilities.
• Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, resided in the U.S. for 3 years in the past 5 years.
• Must complete all required training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing.
• Experiencein correctional or forensic settings.
• ANCC Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing certification.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred); or fluency in other languages.
• Has undergone a federal investigation at the level of Tier 2 or higher; has been grantedfavorable suitability/eligibility and has not had a break in service for more than 24 months.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

• Work is performed in a secure detention facility.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to work in a secure facility and comply with security protocols.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods and lift up to 25-35 lbs as role requires.
