Job Title: Technical Writer/Editor 3

Location(s): Washington, DC
(Remote)

Overview
The Technical Writer III will support the Global Product Labeling team responsible for developing and maintaining user assistance for medical systems hardware and software products. This role will primarily focus on updating and maintaining existing Instructions for Use (IFU) documentation for legacy products.

The position requires a strong writer who can independently manage documentation workflows while collaborating with engineering, product management, and scientific teams across a global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain Instructions for Use (IFUs) and other product documentation.
  • Create, develop, plan, write, and edit instructional, operational, maintenance, or test procedures for print, multimedia, or web-based publications.
  • Develop and maintain user assistance plans.
  • Gather information through interviews with engineers, product managers, and technical staff.
  • Research and translate technical information into documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Produce screenshots, illustrations, and multimedia content for user documentation when needed.
  • Manage documentation drafts, revisions, and review cycles.
  • Coordinate documentation reviews, deadlines, and publication processes.
  • Ensure documentation conforms to corporate documentation and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with global teams across North America, Europe, and India.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) with 6 years of related experience, or Master's degree with 4 years of related experience.
  • Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple documentation deadlines.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Experience writing documentation in U.S. English for international audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation quality.
  • Experience collaborating with distributed global teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and collaboration tools such as Outlook and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DITA-based documentation systems.
  • Experience writing documentation for medical devices or healthcare technology.
  • Familiarity with FrameMaker or legacy CMS systems.
  • Knowledge of globalization and localization best practices.
  • Experience with XML-based authoring tools.
  • Experience using image editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • Experience developing multimedia documentation content.
  • Experience working in regulated environments.

Tools and Technologies

  • DITA-based CMS (primary authoring environment).
  • Legacy CMS systems (occasional use).
  • Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams.
  • Adobe Acrobat.
  • Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Location:
  • Fully Remote - Central or Eastern Time Zone preferred
Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Travel:
  • Approximately 10%
