Summary

The Project Engineer is primarily responsible for the development, improvement and implementation of new processes and technologies, introduction of new prototypes and components into Trumpf Sheetmetal fabrication, machining and internal logistics. General Project management and coordination and management of specific assignments is required while applying known lean manufacturing (SYNCHRO) and Quality Management tools.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops project plans while incorporating both short and long term strategies, manages project team activities, communicates changes and progress to team members, maintains data and reports to track progress, monitors work to ensure quality, displays commitment to excellence, meets productivity standards, and completes projects on time and budget.
  • Provide technical support to engineering regarding design and manufacturability of new products. Coordinate engineering prototype projects with internal departments and suppliers to ensure smooth product introduction.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate processes, tooling, and equipment for work centers to streamline and increase productivity by applying Lean methodology.
  • Coordinate the design and development of fixtures within the department.
  • Support Lean activities and improve product flow by implementing standardized procedures and structures.

Experience

Must have strong working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. MS Office applications and SAP required. Must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to lead and to gain the respect of other employees. Familiarity with TRUMPF products is preferred.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, welding engineering or related field is required. A combination of an Associates Degree in Engineering or related field, and extensive related work experience may be substituted.
