Position Summary

As the Assistant Director for Residential Education, the position will supervise of 3-6 full-time contract Resident Directors, oversee a residential area of 3,000-6,000 residents, manage residents' cases and conduct, serve on the active duty coverage for crises and emergencies, lead departmental committees, train and supervise peers, students, and staff, attend a variety of programs and events, including nights and weekends, and cultivate positive working relationships with colleagues and students across campus and in the surrounding community. This position is an initial 12-month contract that may be renewed up to three times.

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of professional experience working in a college or university setting. (Required)
  • 4-6 years of supervising and mentoring professional staff and student leaders. (Required)
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and ability to work effectively with staff and students. (Required)
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate the work of team members effectively. (Required)
  • Proficiency in administrative tasks such as case management, scheduling, and resource management. (Required)
  • Familiarity with relevant software applications such as Microsoft Suite, StarRez, and Advocate. (Preferred)
  • Experience in providing training in emergency procedures and protocols. (Required)
  • Ability to remain calm and make informed decisions during crisis situations. (Required)
  • Strong interpersonal and counseling skills to support students facing personal and/or academic challenges. (Required)
  • Understanding of student conduct policies and procedures, including Experience in handling student conduct matters from a developmental perspective. (Required)
  • Ability to assess student needs and develop individualized action plans, and Skill in monitoring progress and providing ongoing support to students in need. (Required)
  • Proven track record of fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity within a residential community. (Required)
  • Experience in organizing events and activities to promote student engagement. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs and initiatives. (Required)

  • Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Master's Degree in higher education administration, student development, social work, counseling, or related field. (Preferred)
