As a Buyer at Arete, you will support supply chain activities within both production and R&D environments, ensuring all purchasing functions are performed in accordance with company policies and procedures. In this role, you will source and procure machinery, equipment, tools, raw materials (including electronic components, PCBs, optical parts, and fabricated parts), packaging materials, services, and other supplies needed across all Arete facilities.

Key responsibilities include processing requisitions from Engineering or MRP into purchase orders-verifying accuracy before submission-along with obtaining and evaluating supplier quotes, negotiating pricing, and selecting the best supplier. You will manage open orders through a consistent expedite process and develop strong internal relationships with Quality, Engineering, Production Managers, and Program Managers to understand requirements and ensure materials are ordered in a timely manner that supports operational schedules.

Additional duties include assisting with new supplier setup in coordination with Accounting, managing supplier credit information, and working with Accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies.

This position may be based in our Niwot, CO or Tucson, AZ offices and is classified as a full-time, exempt, nonsupervisory role.

Experiences and Background We Look For (Required Skills):

  • 3-5 + years of Procurement experience.
  • Experience using MRP databases
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to facilitate working relationships with internal customers and external suppliers
  • Ability to search the WEB for new suppliers with assistance from internal engineers
  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFAR, EAR and ITAR
  • Effective organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

Nice to Have (Preferred Skills):

  • Experience using MRP software (CostPoint desired)
  • Experience with MS Project and Power point

The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $80,000; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
