About the Job

Bargaining unit consideration begins on 3/12/26 and ends on 3/19/26
* $24.14 - $26.00
* Monday to Friday, 8 am to 2:30 pm
* This is a 30 hour per week, 12 month position

This position supports the UMD Stores with all aspects of the Computer Corner Department. Duties are primarily in the areas of customer service and buying support. A customer service mindset, problem resolution focus and strong attention to detail are key attributes for success in the role. As a technology resource for university staff and students, building and maintaining positive relationships across the campus is a must.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service - 50%
* Provides excellent customer service meet the needs of students, faculty and the UMD staff.
* Consistently demonstrates awareness of the customer in actions, priorities, and decisions.
* Product display and selling floor recovery
* Assist students and university staff in choosing right computer and related product to meet their needs
* Keep students and university staff informed of order status
* Resolve problems and inquiries in a direct, courteous, and timely manner.
* Fielding computer repair questions and redirecting customer to ITSS or appropriate hardware/software provider.

Computer Corner Buying Support - 30%
* Develops a high competency with software used in the department (MBS, vendor sites, Google Suite, MS Suite)
* Identifies product opportunities in small electronics and technology accessories through market research
* Product ordering support for Computer Corner product offering
* Online computer order processing and ordering
* Computer warranty management
* Price change and inventory adjustment processing
* Responsible for shipping, receiving, and stocking of computer corner

Other - 20%:
* Builds and maintains strong relationships with Faculty and staff regarding their department technology needs.
* Assisting UMD Stores with in-store technology including but not limited to the purchase, setup and configuration of registers, printers, and department computer hardware.
* Customer Service Desk and Cashier coverage as needed
* Trains and guides on-call and student workers.
* Annual inventory support
* Attend quarterly ITSS/UMD Stores meeting
* Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications
* High School Diploma/GED plus four (4) years of related office experience. Training/education may be substituted for some of the years o experience. Computer experience required. Specific knowledge/skills may be required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Experience using various software solutions (e.g., MS-Excel, email, etc.).
* Ability to lead by example, make sound decisions, act on ideas, and demonstrate professionalism.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Growth mindset

Physical/Other Requirements
* Work varied hours/days as business dictates
* Able to reach, push, pull, stand, squat and bend for up to 8 hours or longer as necessary.
* Able to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the course materials department.
* Able to move or handle merchandise throughout the store weighing up to 50 pounds

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $24.14 - $26.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75% Appointment
