Job Summary:
The Automotive Mechanic II will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. The Automotive Mechanic II will perform independent project tasks and collaborate with customers and team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Maintain vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections.
* Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components.
* Read, interpret, and follow service procedures.
* Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders.
* Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
* Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.
Education and Experience (required):
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum of 4 years of work experience as a Mechanic.
* Knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment.
* Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Has own tools with rolling toolbox and able to work overtime and weekends.
* Ability to read, comprehend and execute written procedures.
* Valid driver"s license.
* Must be a US Citizen or US permanent resident allowing for ITAR compliance
* Proficient in the use of maintenance tools, repair and special tools, diagnostic equipment
* Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) according to project expectations and Technical Manuals (TMs) or work instructions.
* Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing military vehicle platforms (wheeled and tracked)
* Prior military service in a wheeled or tracked vehicle mechanic MOS (e.g., 91B, 91H, 3521, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
* Experience operating heavy equipment, tactical recovery vehicles, forklifts, or shop support equipment.
Education and Experience (preferred):
* Certificate in Automotive Technology or related.
* National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s).
* State Mechanic Certification(s).
* Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines and balancers.
