Summary:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing nursing practice and daily operations within designated specialty and nursing areas. This role fosters strong collaboration across a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of highquality, patientcentered care.

The Nurse Manager provides leadership and accountability for staff orientation, ongoing education, and competency development in alignment with the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the nursing department and hospital administration. This position identifies and prioritizes the department's educational needs while advancing excellence in nursing through evidencebased practice.

The Nurse Manager creates and maintains a positive and supportive work environment that empowers staff to participate in identifying opportunities for improving patient care and related processes. The role also supports professional growth by assisting staff in developing critical thinking, prioritization, and customer service skills essential for safe and effective patient care.

Additionally, the Nurse Manager plays an integral role in performance improvement (PI) initiatives and actively participates in committees that help advance professional nursing practice across the organization.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; Associates Degree required, Bachelors Degree preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Active nursing license to practice in the state of Maine. Current BLS certification at hire ACLS within 6 months of hire.
  3. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience within the past 5 years. Supervisory experience preferred.
