This position is on-site at Ft. Meade, Maryland. Responsibilities * Develop strategic plans for industry engagement that are integrated with assigned directorate's strategic plans and the overall lab plan. This will require understanding of programmatic and lab strategy, key customers, industry opportunities, and internal resources / capabilities to maximize industry interaction and impact. * Interface with DoW and other USG national security organizations on existing and potentially new cyber security-related collaborations and advise INL on research opportunities related to control systems cyber security. * Execute industry engagement strategies, which requires marketing solutions/capabilities, understanding and professionally communicating INL's expertise and capabilities, building relationship of trust with industry contacts, reducing relationships to working agreements, and maintaining long term positive relationships. * Support the development of a strategic vision that aligns research investments to national challenges that are relevant to customer needs and condensed into actionable programmatic R&D. * Develop and manage industry relationships by initiating and developing strategic contacts, providing frequent and professional communication, organize meetings and visits, ensure interactions are productive and professional, and work with researchers, agreements professionals, and others subject matter experts to professionally formalize the relationship(s). * Develop and execute business development and capabilities strategy for the assigned directorate's portfolio that generates opportunities with new and/or existing customer sets. This includes identifying and addressing the emerging issues and activities INL needs to focus on and which opportunities to pursue for both near and long-term planning. * Assess stakeholder needs, identify stakeholder requirements, provide access to DOE research capabilities and resources, develop strategic plans to implement INL programs. Promote capabilities and ensure successful completion of customer work scope. * Manage teams to facilitate and coordinate with stakeholders, support organizations, processes, etc. to ensure external partners have a best-in-class experience in working with INL. * Advise and grow new research and/or business areas. * Directly interact with DOE customers and support subcontractors, clients, and stakeholders on both current and future programs and projects. Interact and manage multiple clients in multiple sectors but particularly focuses on government and industrial entities. * Develop, chair, and mentor for leadership of national/international level conferences, symposia, and workshops on cutting-edge science and engineering to address national challenges. * Develop specific protocols, procedures, and control mechanisms as appropriate to implement tactical actions and ensure all program staff understand, follow, and communicate the status of these actions. * Mentor junior staff, postdocs, and interns. * Other duties as assigned. Intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior and various responsibilities. Position requires working irregular hours of more than 8 hours/day and working alone.
