As the global leader in high-speed connectivity, Ciena is committed to a people-first approach. Our teams enjoy a culture focused on prioritizing a flexible work environment that empowers individual growth, well-being, and belonging. We're a technology company that leads with our humanity-driving our business priorities alongside meaningful social, community, and societal impact.

How You Will Contribute:

You will be joining a team designing ICs for Ciena's co-packaged optics & copper solutions. This role shapes the performance, power efficiency, and signal integrity of nextgeneration systems by designing industryleading analog and mixedsignal integrated circuits. Your work sits at the intersection of IC technology, communications systems, packaging, and optics-driving innovation that directly impacts Ciena's adaptive network solutions.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and lay out highperformance analog and mixedsignal circuits, such as TIAs, modulator drivers, laser drivers, CTLEs, VGAs, operational amplifiers (opamps), bandgaps, DACs, and ADCs.
  • Design and model electromagnetic structures such as inductors, Tcoils, and transmission lines to optimize highspeed performance.
  • Execute laboratory testing and debug activities for analog and mixedsignal integrated circuits.
  • Apply programming skills in Python, VerilogA, and Cadence SKILL to support design automation and verification.
  • Collaborate with teams across IC technology, communications systems, signal integrity, packaging, and optical engineering disciplines to deliver the best possible ICs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of circuit power, bandwidth, noise, and overall signal integrity.
  • Provide written reports and presentations of work performed (i.e. design, simulations, measurements, etc.)

The Must Haves:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, or M.S. in Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing highspeed circuits at speeds 5 GHz.
  • Proficiency in lowspeed analog and mixedsignal circuit fundamentals.
  • Handson experience with highspeed analog/RF layout techniques.
  • Expertise in electromagnetic modeling for on-chip inductors, Tcoils, and transmission lines.
  • Background in laboratory testing and debugging of analog and mixedsignal integrated circuits.
  • High motivation and a positive attitude.

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience working in SiGe BiCMOS, FDSOI CMOS, FinFET CMOS, and/or GAA CMOS technologies.
  • Familiarity with optical communications systems and optoelectronic devices.
  • Awareness of advanced photonicelectronic integration trends.
  • Experience streamlining design workflows through scripting or automation.
  • Exposure to mixedsignal systemlevel modeling methodologies.
  • Participation in silicon bringup, validation, and characterization phases.
  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary hardware development practices.
  • Understanding of signalintegrity considerations in advanced packaging environments.
