HIM Technician Health Information Management Summary: The HIM Technician performs multiple functions within the department under general supervision, while maintaining patient privacy and following HIPAA rules. The HIM technician collaborates with others in the department to complete the following responsibilities: respond to requests for disclosure of protected health information; collect and enter data for birth certificates; scan and index paper records into Electronic Medical Records (Epic); abstract clinical information into Epic; perform medical record analysis; prepare and submit records for audits and care gap closures; and additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associates Degree preferred. Health care license preferred. Certification or willingness to pursue certification in Health Information Managementedical Records is preferred. Previous experience in physician clinic or hospital and experience with Electronic Medical Record preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, experience with electronic medical records system a plus. 1 year experience preferred.Schedule: Full-Time; Monday-Friday 8: 00am-4: 30pm or 8: 30am-5: 00pm.
