This position leads operations and drives impactful projects that support our agency's mission, vision and values in meeting the needs of individuals and communities across Fairfax County. This is an exciting opportunity to oversee the policies, processes, and maintenance that support both county-owned and leased facilities while directly contributing to the success of community-oriented spaces.
As the Senior Facilities Coordinator, you will take the lead in managing all aspects of daily NCS facility operations, including reviewing workflows, improving operational efficiency, and implementing changes to policies and processes. You'll play a key role in guiding the Facilities and Operations Unit forward, supervising team members while strategically addressing facility challenges. Your expertise will shape everything from building renovations and capital improvement projects to space planning and equipment purchasing across multiple operating sites.
This position also provides opportunities to collaborate with senior leaders and organizations, acting as the main point of contact for facility-related matters. You'll represent NCS in interactions with the Fairfax County Facilities Management Division, address property management issues at leased sites, oversee major construction and refurbishment projects, and manage resources critical to maintaining high-functioning facilities. Along the way, your research and project oversight will ensure long-term success and optimal use of our community spaces.

Other key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Initiates and implements overall NCS facility rules and operations as deemed necessary by program manager.
- Develops policies and procedures for efficient and effective operations for the Facility and Operations unit.
- Manages NCS's internal work order process and SharePoint system, and facilitates updates as needed.
- Supervises and coordinates with the Management Analyst I position (Facilities Coordinator) within the unit.
- Provides direct personnel oversight, including day-to-day work functions and HR requirements.
- Coordinates and implements physical needs, maintenance, upkeep, and ordering of equipment for all NCS operating facilities (county-owned and leased facilities) in Fairfax County.
- Conducts independent research and analysis for projects/purchases and work functions, in terms of overall policy and procedure development and project management.
- Manages high-level, complex projects related to effective and efficient operations of NCS sites to include capital improvement projects, facility refurbishments, building renovations, new construction, space planning, and all other operational needs at sites.
- Leads NCS processes and resources to independently complete small projects as needed for the agency.
- Provides oversight and management throughout the implementation phase of new agency facility-related contracts.
- Serves as a main point of contact for NCS facilities for BOS, agency senior leadership, and other senior managers in partnering agencies.
- Point of contact for Facility Management Leasing and property owner/property manager relation issues at leased NCS sites.
- Serves as the agency liaison with Fairfax County Facilities Management Division (FMD) and county contractors.
- Actively participates and represents NCS when needed on planning activities.
- Interacts with and provides responses to a wide customer base from other county agencies;
- Manages complex work issues and prioritization of tasks to include the timely routing and documenting of requests.
- Provides and promotes customer service and effective communication with agency staff and other county partners.
For special assignments/deadlines, alternate/flex schedule or comp time may be required.
Note: The assigned functional areas of the position include project management, process improvement, logistics/facilities management, and/or asset and supply management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: (Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies for "Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to") Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in field related to the assigned functional area; Plus four years of professional work experience within the functional area.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Valid driver's license
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, and a driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Additional Work Schedule Requirements: For special assignments/deadlines, alternate/flex schedule or comp time may be required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong project management skills and experience in managing multiple construction and logistical projects at the same time, highly organized.
- Experience in resource and property management.
- Contract management experience.
- Familiarity with emergency planning and continuity of operations.
- Experience with identifying and producing resolutions for facility ADA and Risk Management issues.
- Experience conducting research, collecting data, and/or preparing reports; ability to analyze data and reports.
- Experience in facilities management, space planning, and vendor relations.
- Experience with procurement processes and equipment inventories.
- Knowledge of licensing requirements for county and childcare facilities, and other programs where applicable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong computer and database skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Strong supervisory skills and personnel management experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary in nature; however, incumbent may be required to do some walking, standing, bending, and carrying items up to 25 pounds. Ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Sufficiently mobile to attend meetings at various locations and make presentations to county staff and community. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
