This role is based in our Chicago or NYC office.

As part of Informa, Cater+Event hosts an annual trade show and is a leading platform for networking, education, and showcasing the latest trends and innovations in the events industry. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Executive to join our team and contribute to the continued success of Cater+Event.

Job Summary:

The Sales Executive will be responsible for driving revenue growth by selling exhibit space, sponsorships, and media advertising opportunities for The Special Event. This role requires a motivated individual with a passion for sales, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of the events industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets, building strong client relationships, and identifying new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales and Revenue Generation:
    • Proactively sell exhibit space, sponsorship packages, and media advertising opportunities to new and existing clients.
    • Meet and exceed individual and team sales targets.
    • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
    • Provide regular updates on new opportunities.
  • Market Research and Business Development:
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the events industry.
    • Keep up to date on industry trends, competitor activities, and client needs.
    • Attend industry events and trade shows to network and generate leads a few times a year.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Work closely with the marketing, operations, and event management teams to ensure seamless execution of client deliverables.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to refine compelling sales materials and proposals.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in sales, preferably within the events, exhibitions, or media industry.
  • Strong understanding of the events industry and its key players.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Results-oriented with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field (preferred but not required).

The salary range for this role is $60,000- $65,000 + commission, based on experience.
