Position Overview

The RD Laboratory Operations Technician II provides daytoday operational support to R&D laboratories by performing routine laboratory procedures, maintaining equipment, and coordinating lab services to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient working environment. This role follows established procedures with a moderate degree of supervision, applies established technical skills to complete a range of lab support activities, and collaborates closely with scientists, lab staff, and vendors to enable uninterrupted research operations.

This position will be onsite in San Diego, CA.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform routine laboratory support activities, including sample and reagent preparation, basic equipment checks, and general lab maintenance to ensure readiness for daily R&D work.
  • Maintain lab organization and inventory by monitoring stock levels, restocking consumables and reagents, and assisting with ordering to reduce workflow disruptions.
  • Execute established procedures for equipment maintenance and service coordination, including documenting maintenance activities and escalating issues to vendors or Facilities as needed.
  • Support laboratory safety and compliance by following EHS procedures, participating in inspections, and helping maintain chemical, waste, and biosafety documentation in line with company standards.
  • Enter and update information in laboratory and facilities systems (e.g., CMMS, inventory or monitoring tools) to ensure accurate records of equipment, supplies, and service requests.
  • Communicate effectively with scientists, lab users, and crossfunctional partners to understand service needs, prioritize tasks, and contribute to a collaborative and qualityfocused lab culture.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform keyboarding/mousing for approximately 25% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work standing for approximately 75% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 40 pounds within the typical working day.
  • Ability and means to travel up to 5% of work time between local Exact Sciences locations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • 1+ years of experience in a laboratory, facilities, or technical operations role.
  • Experience working in a laboratory or technical environment with basic knowledge of lab safety practices, equipment use, and following standard operating procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Salary Range:

$48,000 - $72,000

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - CA - San Diego on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
