WHAT WILL YOU DO
The Industrial Engine Technician Intern is responsible for assembling and preparing custom Caterpillar diesel engine packages, as well as providing aftermarket parts support for key customers. This role requires technical skills and the ability to work independently. The Industrial Engine Technician reports directly to the Industrial Engine Sales Manager and plays a key role in meeting production and delivery schedules for our industrial engine customers. This role is a part time internship role at the dealership. Benefits are not included in this part-time internship role.
Responsibilities


  • Read and interpret technical information and specifications
  • Assemble, prepare, test, and inspect new engine packages for consistent quality prior to delivery
  • Manage engine and parts inventory, ensuring timely receipt and shipment of all orders
  • Operate a forklift to load/unload parts and maintain an organized, safe shop environment
  • Communicate effectively, demonstrate reliability, and work independently or as part of a team, including overtime or weekend hours as needed.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required, technical certification or associate degree in diesel technology or related field preferred
  • Prior experience (2+ years) working with diesel engines or similar heavy equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and assembly instructions
  • Experience with basic hand and power tools
  • Understanding of safety practices and procedures in a shop environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and supporting customers
  • Basic computer skills for order tracking and documentation
  • Valid driver's license (may be required for parts delivery or field service)
  • Valid forklift operator certification or the ability to obtain certification before operating forklifts on-site
