Position Overview

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Annual Giving and Engagement, the Assistant Director of Stewardship and Donor Relations will provide leadership, vision, and strategic planning for donor stewardship initiatives by implementing a comprehensive donor recognition program to strengthen current and future donor relationships with the university. The ADSDR is responsible for all central stewardship events, processes, and programs and collaborates with Advancement and Public Relations team and campus partners in a collective effort to ensure consistent, impactful stewardship and meaningful donor recognition, at all giving levels.

The ADSDR will manage the activities for the timely acknowledgment of gifts at all levels and will move donors along a journey that supports renewed commitments to the University through special recognition initiatives.

This position requires a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and organization; accuracy and attention to detail; use of good judgment; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; an ability to set priorities and handle multiple projects; and a high degree of computer proficiency. The ADSDR will work independently under general direction, execute activities on the stewardship matrix, and document stewardship activities including reporting data analytics in the Advance CRM. The ADSDR will have contact with high-level constituents requiring adherence to decorum, the ability to switch between formal, informal, casual, and business vocabulary, tact, discretion, and judgment.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key partner in the implementation of policies and procedures of the university-wide stewardship program with focus on acknowledgments, recognition and reporting impact which surprise and delight donors by offering access, information, and experiences that strengthen their relationship with ENMU. Research, draft and edit accurate and compelling donor correspondence, narrative reports and donor summaries.
  • Under the Direction of the Director of Annual Giving and Engagement, collaborate with multiple departments to increase donor satisfaction, motivate greater giving and optimize opportunities to engage donors. Create gift acknowledgments and other stewardship-related correspondence on behalf of executive leadership, faculty, and other stakeholders in adherence to the Stewardship Matrix and 1Roo and university brand standards.
  • Working closely with the Associate Vice President for Advancement and the Vice President of Advancement and Public Relations, develop a university-wide inventory of naming opportunities for highly visible or in-demand facilities, programs, and departments; Manage this inventory on an annual basis to ensure all naming rights requirements and approvals are achieved. Ensures philanthropic naming opportunities meet all required approvals as dictated by university policy.
  • The ADSDR will also share responsibility for managing the donor database by maintaining data integrity, reporting, and measuring outcomes of initiatives and programs.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Job Requirements:

A bachelor's degree is required. An emphasis in sales, marketing, persuasive writing, or fundraising preferred. Experience developing marketing materials and reports in a dynamic and collaborative environment is preferred. A minimum of three years of related experience in the above-mentioned fields is required. Direct experience in higher education advancement is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High proficiency in MS Office Suite and general technological proficiency with project management software as well as database management
  • Familiarity with higher education advancement and stewardship.
  • Knowledge or experience working with donors and/or a high level of emotional intelligence and tact to anticipate philanthropic partner needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Public speaking, writing, and storytelling skills.
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in the impact of higher education on the lives of students and families.
  • Willingness to be a team player who can be responsive and equanimous in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential material.
  • Ability to assist a diverse student population in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and project management skills.
  • Experience planning and managing events.

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer and attending meetings.
  • Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically.
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach during meetings, donor visits, and special events.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds, including event supplies, presentation materials, and promotional items.
  • Ability to travel locally, regionally, and occasionally out of state for donor meetings, alumni events, conferences, and fundraising activities.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to support fundraising events and university functions.
  • Ability to move throughout campus and event venues to coordinate donor activities and represent the university.
