Position Title: Heat/Cool Plant Operator I Job Category: University Staff Employment Type: Regular Job Profile: Heat/Cool Plant Operator I Job Duties: Monitors, operates, adjusts, maintains, and repairs a variety of technical equipment including but not limited to high-pressure boilers and large tonnage chillers for the campus Central Heating and Cooling plant. Inspect, operate, and maintain heating and cooling equipment at campus satellite facilities. Perform all duties in accordance with policy and procedures while utilizing required personal protective equipment (PPE). This position is not eligible for hybrid work and requires 100% onsite work. Key Job Responsibilities: Ensures the safe and efficient operation of the plant and its associated equipment Communicates to/with plant personnel to ensure operational and safety objectives are met Makes regular inspections of plant equipment and prepares equipment malfunction reports Starts, stops, and adjusts equipment settings to maintain operational requirements Perform emergency, routine, and preventative maintenance under the direction of the Plant Superintendent or designee following proper procedures and practices. Adheres to safety protocols and procedures Assist under the direction of the Plant Superintendent or designee in the operation of the main campus and off campus Central Plant boilers, chillers and auxiliary equipment following proper procedures and practices. Address urgent or unplanned operations needs by completing tasks assigned by the Superintendent or designee under close guidance.
