DESCRIPTION

Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments within the UCSD School of Medicine with comprehensive clinical programs, extensive basic science and clinical research, and diverse educational opportunities for students, residents and fellows. The internationally renowned faculty play a major role in medical and graduate student training, providing educational and programmatic offerings that span several disciplines and provide diversity to meet the interests of a broad spectrum of students and scholars. More than one hundred trainees at the graduate student and postdoctoral level, as well as more than 300 professional, research and administrative staff who along with the department administrators interact closely with the faculty. Fulfills primary responsibility for a specific area of research within a broader research grant program initiative. Under general supervision, the incumbent will be responsible for monitoring and document progress of multi-institutional research grant programs, arranging logistics and scheduling with multiple stakeholders for collaborative meetings and reporting and presenting to funding agencies. The incumbent will also be responsible for intaking research information and results and synthesizing successfully into progress reports for funding agencies, and also perform primary composition and writing of follow-up grant funding applications. The incumbent will also be responsible for leading and moderating collaborative meetings between stakeholders. The incumbent will generate schedules and timelines for research program progress and tracking progress. For presentations of research program progress and results, the incumbent will also be responsible for generating unified presentation slides upon receiving draft slides from program members. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Nine years of related experience, education/training, OR an Advanced degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.

  • Academic background and experience in selected area of research required.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.

  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers, managers and teams.

  • Proven program planning and management of projects.
