Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) or more years prior experience in the Dairy Industry as a maintenance technician with a POSITION PURPOSE The maintenance building technician position will be responsible for building repair and maintenance. This includes tile replacement, grouting, interior and exterior painting, door repair, light replacement and concrete work. This position will also coordinate, schedule and direct outside contractors conducting building maintenance projects ensuring all GMP, OSHA Safety Rules, Food Safety Policies and Company Regulations are being adhered to. NATURE AND SCOPE The Maintenance Building Technician must be able to read/write, perform basic mathematical calculations and possess adequate computer skills to utilize the departments maintenance tracking program Maximo, understand/adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), and work with computerized controllers and associated instruments. The jobholder must communicate effectively with machine operators, production supervisors, department heads, outside contractors and plant maintenance personnel. Technicians must exercise considerable judgment and problem-solving skills when supervision is often not readily available for consultation. The incumbent's performance is measured by the appearance of the building after repairs, successful performance of preventive maintenance programs, timely communication of situations requiring special attention to management, and normal hourly employee accountability such as attendance, safety and punctuality. Working conditions can vary from extremely hot to extremely cold based on working outdoors. Work involves wearing personal protective equipment particularly in high noise and areas involving hazardous chemicals, etc. Approximately two (2) to three (3) years prior building maintenance along with three (3) months on-the-job experience is necessary to become proficient in the areas of tile repair, carpentry, basic plumbing, concrete work and painting, etc. All other duties as assigned. Complete painting, building repairs and assignments in a timely manner paying attention to appearance. 20% 3. Assist in coordinating work with outside contractors. 15% 4.
