| Position Summary |
Flexible work arrangements, including virtual/hybrid work locations, are an integral part of the School of Medicine's Working Forward initiative. As such, this position's work location is designated as hybrid. Please note that the designated work location is subject to change based on the unit's business needs.
The Department of Psychiatry of the University of North Carolina (
UNC) School of Medicine at Chapel Hill is seeking a full-time clinical psychologist to join its Adolescent and Young Adult (
AYA) cancer program. This is an Open Rank fixed term faculty position. This clinical service is a core component of the
AYA program which is part of the
UNC Comprehensive Cancer Support Program (
CCSP). The mission of the
CCS is to deliver exceptional clinical care to patients at the N.C. Basnight Cancer Hospital and other venues served by the School of Medicine and
UNC Cancer Care.
This position will provide therapeutic support to
AYA patients and their families who receive cancer care at
UNC. The person in this position will also have research opportunities in the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical research at the interface of oncology and mental health. In addition, we anticipate the
AYA program will provide training to
UNC Health professionals and students who work with patients with cancer. The successful candidate should have strong psychological clinical skills and a record of scholarly achievement (including peer-reviewed publications and research experience). Additionally, we are particularly interested in candidates with an established record of extramural research funding, leadership skills, and who have demonstrated an ability to promote a collegial environment that fosters ongoing collaboration. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, with an
APA-approved internship and an
APPIC approved fellowship. Must be eligible for psychologist licensure in the state of North Carolina as well as credentials for the independent practice of psychology in the State of North Carolina. |
| Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Special consideration will be given to candidates with advanced training or prior experience in health service psychology, oncology, or
AYA care. |
